about us

In 2015 and 2016, several concerned citizens recognized a need in our community and through the use of Facebook, e-mails and individual phone calls started informally helping to provide basic home essentials to those escaping domestic violence. Word spread, needs within the community became more visible and hence, the Fort Saskatchewan Furniture Bank was established as a non-profit society in April 2017.
Through the work of volunteers, combined with generous donations from our community, we are able to provide gently used furniture and household goods to help furnish a home for those in need. We redistribute furniture and household goods to people transitioning out of homelessness, escaping abusive situations, newcomers and refugees to Canada (within the last year) who require assistance, and to those who suffered loss due to fire or flood. When extra resources are available, items can be provided to low income individuals and families.
What started out as one household per month - has grown ten-fold over the last couple of years.
When you donate to Fort Sask Furniture Bank, you’re doing more than just providing furnishings for a place to rest, study, or prepare a meal. You’re helping create a home and empowering those who live there, so we ask for all donations to be in gently used condition.
These services are for those living in or are relocating to Fort Saskatchewan (we do not deliver to clients or pick up donations outside of Fort Saskatchewan City Limits).
There is no other organization like this in Fort Saskatchewan.
We are a virtual furniture bank - we do not have a store front or phone number to call - to contact us click here.
